Challenge #193-Markers/Inks

Markers, inks and other colorants are all the rage right now.  With the coloring book craze we are all buying up all kinds of colorants.  This challenge is to use those markers and inks on a project.

Here is a sampling of inspiration from our design team.  It's your turn now.  Let's see what you can come up with using markers and inks.

Renee

For my project, I used both markers to color my image and inks to do a watercolor wash background. This was my first time watercoloring with Distress Inks, and I am quite pleased with the background.

Majo

I created this ATC with different colours of Distress Ink.

..... and the for some reason I thought my birdie was way too large for an ATC, so I mounted the whole thing onto a card ;)

Julia

Not tons of inks, but inks none the less! I love using stamps on my layouts and this was the perfect challenge to pull out the stamps and the inks the challenge required.

Amanda

It's my little man's 3rd birthday tomorrow so instead of scrapping pages I have been using my scrap supplies to create party decorations. We did a construction theme this year so this is the card I made for him. I stamped the sentiment and used distress inks around the block.

I'd never forget you! In my card I used distress Ink to create the background of the shaker and copic markers to coloring the owls. Classic Ink to stamp the sentiment and I can't image my life with our inks...

Challenge #192 - Fall theme

Hello, hello! Lori here today to bring you our challenge for this week.

Fall officially begins this week here in the United States, so my challenge to you is to create a fall themed project. It can be fall colors - think reds, oranges, yellows, gold, and brown - or something to do with leaves, pumpkins, the pumpkin patch, apples, scarecrows... whatever makes you think of fall.

For my card I chose to go with some fall colors.

October Afternoon Apple Cider collection had the perfect cards to match with my
sweet pic of DGS in his warm hoody.
Some wood leaves from Creative Embellishments, heart from Elle's Studio, ric-rac and ribbon corners from stash.

Hi there...The fall theme I chose to work on is back to school shopping. I used lots of stash from my hoard...my collection that is...on my layout!

This photo was taken in the fall of 2013 of my husband and son.

Being in Australia we don't officially have a "fall" so I used the colours of fall for my easel card, which will be gifted to a very special person.  I think she too will love the colours so thanks Lori for a great challenge this week!  My euphorbia "sticks on fire" plant that I can see from my craft room window helped with the inspiration.

I hope you find some time this week to play along with my fall themed challenge. You have until Saturday, September 26 to link up your project.

Challenge #191 - Use Stencils on your project ♥

Hi, it's Majo here.

I follow Karrie to welcome everyone back to Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog!

I hope you all enjoyed your summer.

I have chosen to use stencils on my project.

Since I know me and also the fact that I tend to cover a lot of my background, I show you what I started with, a canvas on which I used Gelatos and a heart stencil.

I added the birds from Darkroom Door and a sentiment from Crafty Impressions.

I mixed texture paste with distress ink "Wild Honey" and added some dots for more texture. I also randomly stamped with a sentiment stamp all over the canvas.

One of the little birds needed a goggle eye ;)

Have fun crafting, hope to see you here, where I can enjoy your creations ♥

I used the partial stencil to create special designs. I used the Steampunk Clockface de Rebecca Baer Inc. to create the Christmas Trees.

Renee Hagler

My original plan had been to cut a silhouette file stencil out and mist a background on my card.  However, once cut, I realized I really liked the look of the stencil applied directly to my card. The white mat is a smaller version of the file, cut out on my die cut machine and then cut down to serve as a mat for the card,

Here is the layout I created with a stencil background, you can get a better view of the stencil on my blog. I don't use stencils often so this challenge really helped inspire me to get one out and give it a go.

Karrie

I used 3 different stencils with mists and modeling paste + stamps to create my whimsical page.

Amanda

I used a stencil and some chalk ink to create my background. I also traced a star stencil
 for the star cut outs.

Sept 7 - Challenge #190 - TV or movie

Hi, Karrie here.  I'm first up to welcome everyone back to Use Your Stuff!
I hope you all had a fabulous summer.
Well I am not going with the traditional beginning of September "back to school" for my challenge.
My hubby and I have been catching up on shows on Netflix lately so I came up with this instead:
I want you to be inspired by a favourite movie or TV show.
It could be a title of the show or episode, theme song, quote, or stars or topic.
It can be yours or anyone's. Actually this challenge is pretty much wide open to your interpretation,
just have fun with it and explain in your blog post how it relates to a tv show or movie.
Here is an art journal page with one of my fave TV shows Supernatural,
with the delectable Jenson Ackles as "Demon Dean"
and a lyric from the song "Demons" by Imagine Dragons.
The title (left side) was ripped from a magazine.
I found both images (right side) online, thanks and if they are yours
please let me know and I will gladly credit you.

Here are some other DT interpretations!

Around our house we love "The Walking Dead". We look forward to it every fall, and we are so happy to have the spin off - "Fear The Walking Dead" - on now to hold us over until the new season starts! So, of course I was inspired to make a Halloween card with a couple of glow in the dark zombies on it!

Tammy
So lately my big TV passion is Sons of Anarchy!  I'm totally obsessed with watching it! It is seriously going to be hard to keep watching it as well as my new & returning fall shows, but we will see what happens.  I created this masculine birthday card.  I went with black and white and 'chrome' with just a touch of red (for the blood that SAMCRO always seems to spill).
